Campfire Field Notes. Client Retreats
"Watching the sun hover on the horizon at midnight with a hundred colleagues from across the globe made the scale of what we are building feel entirely real."
For a security collective operating on a global matrix across three continents, the annual gathering is less of a luxury and more of a cultural anchor. Having previously convened on an Italian island and in the warmth of a Catalan estate, Push Security faced a distinct challenge for their third iteration: scaling the intimacy of a close-knit startup into a rapidly expanding enterprise.
With fresh talent arriving from London, Austin, and Cape Town, the objective was to bypass the typical corporate icebreakers. The team required an environment where complex engineering strategies could be debated by day, and cultural alignment could happen naturally by night, ensuring the company’s distinct DNA remained intact despite its geographic dispersion.

A Castle Under a Perpetual Twilight
The setting chosen was an architectural poem — a lakeside estate sticking out proudly against the bright Nordic sky. Surrounded by manicured lawns that rolled gently down to the water’s edge, the property offered an immediate sense of isolation and focus. Inside, gilded mirrors and historic portraits met the clean, minimalist lines of contemporary Swedish design. The air carried the scent of pine and oncoming rain. During the final evening’s outdoor barbecue, the true protagonist became the Swedish summer itself. Celebrating Midsommar, the team sat under a sky that refused to darken, watching a crimson sunset stall at 11:00 PM. It was a surreal, luminous atmosphere that lent the entire gathering an otherworldly, timeless quality.

Hunting and regal refinement
The itinerary was designed as a fluid transition between high-stakes strategy and structured play. Rather than enforcing rigid schedules, the days breathed according to the natural rhythm of the estate.
The intellectual centrepiece was the "Push Security Hunt," an intricate, custom-designed scavenger hunt engineered by the company’s internal planners. This gamified challenge allowed veteran engineers and fresh marketing hires to collaborate, using internal tools and wit to unlock clues scattered across the historic grounds.
When the volatile Swedish elements threatened the planned outdoor lakeside activities, the programme shifted indoors without missing a beat. The traditional fika — Sweden's sacred coffee and pastry ritual — and the company awards ceremony were relocated into the grand hall of the castle. The shift felt less like a plan B and more like an intentional upgrade; the regal, historic backdrop elevated the presentations, turning an afternoon of recognition into a memorable piece of company lore.

Recap
By focusing on shared experiences rather than rigid corporate presentations, Push Security successfully integrated its latest cohort of talent. Even with weather on the cooler side for the Swedish summer, the team adapted to their environment and made the most of the situation. The lakeside manor provided more than just a backdrop; it served as the foundation for the future of the company’s global culture.
