For years, the Campfire annual retreat followed a predictable, if beautiful, script: we went to the mountains. But by February 2026, the industrial air of Turin felt a little heavier than usual. The team had grown, the pace had accelerated, and the "Zoom fatigue" was real. We didn't just need a meeting; we needed a change of state. So, we traded the peaks for the coast, packed the core team into a fleet of vans, and headed south toward the Ligurian Sea.

Campfire Field Notes. Client Retreats

How parcelLab marked a decade of growth with five days in the Austrian Alps, absorbed a leadership transition mid-planning, and came down from the summit with something that felt, for the first time in a while, like solid ground.

parcelLab was founded in Munich in 2015 with a specific frustration in mind. In e-commerce, the moment a parcel leaves the warehouse is the moment most brands go quiet, handing the customer experience over to a carrier and hoping for the best. parcelLab built a platform to reclaim that moment, turning post-purchase communication into a branded, data-driven experience that keeps customers informed and connected from dispatch to doorstep.

A decade later, the company operates internationally, with teams across Germany, the UK, and the United States, and a client list that spans some of the largest retailers in Europe and North America.

We all know the statistics on how often new businesses fail, so 10 years was definitely worth celebrating. The real question was where to mark such an occasion.

We’ve always believed that for the important stuff, less is more

Our agenda was sparse by design, built on the philosophy of “giving a powerful nudge and letting it cook.”The first nudge was a Storytelling Workshop. We skipped the boardroom for a glass-walled space overlooking the waves, then split into teams with sixty minutes to script, film, and edit a one-minute video capturing the Campfire soul.

Terraces and olive groves became film sets, and the energy was electric. Distilling our mission into sixty seconds stripped away the jargon and revealed the heart of what we do. That night, the creative high spilled into a legendary Karaoke Night, where the last professional barriers dissolved in a chorus of badly sung ’90s hits.

Closer to Home

The brief that came to Campfire pointed toward the mountains. parcelLab had previously gathered in Italy, and for the 2025 anniversary edition the instinct was to go closer to the company's Munich origins, somewhere with altitude, clean air and a clear view.

Werfenweng, a small Alpine village in the Salzburg region of Austria, answered all of it. The unique resort there integrates naturally into the village landscape without sacrificing the practicalities a global team requires. Two hours by coach from Munich Airport, it sits at the kind of elevation where the air genuinely tastes different and the agenda items that felt urgent at sea level begin to loosen their grip.

Getting over two hundred people from three continents into a mountain village without friction is its own discipline. Munich served as the central hub, consolidating international flights and allowing more of the budget to go directly into the experience on the ground rather than into transfer logistics.

A Pivot in the Planning

Shortly before the event, parcelLab's internal landscape shifted. A period of rapid leadership change brought new executives into the organisation, including a new Head of People and Culture, at a moment when the company was pushing hard into new markets. The original brief, weighted toward outdoor activity and informal team connection, needed to absorb something more urgent: the actual work of alignment.

Campfire rebuilt the agenda around both. The week that emerged balanced corporate workshops and leadership sessions with the celebration that a ten-year milestone deserved. The shift happened behind the scenes. From the team's perspective, the week simply worked.

The Week Itself

New leaders bonded with the broader workforce in the way that a structured onboarding session rarely achieves: over meals, on trails, in the informal rhythm of days spent in the same place. Breakout sessions moved outdoors, into meadows and local village spots, replacing the conference room dynamic with something that invited a different kind of conversation.

The summit ride was the week's most striking moment. A cable car carried the group to altitude for drinks and dinner with the mountains spread out below, followed by mountaineering activities for those who wanted them. It is the kind of shared experience that travels back with people: a specific memory, a specific height, a specific evening light.

The anniversary dinner took place in a historic regional castle, the kind of setting that gives a decade of work its proper weight. Ten years of building something, celebrated somewhere built to last.

What Came Down from the Mountain

parcelLab arrived in Werfenweng in the middle of a transition. They left it with something more settled. The new leadership team had found their footing with the people they would be leading. The international workforce, scattered across time zones for most of the year, had spent five days in the same valley. The anniversary had been marked in a way that felt proportionate to what it actually represented. The Alps have a way of making things clear. Distance from the day-to-day, a shared landscape, and enough time to actually talk tend to do more for an organisation than any agenda item written in advance. parcelLab came down from the mountain ready for the next ten years.

We hosted our AI Summit with Campfire - nearly 500 attendees - and from start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Ideas, execution, responsiveness, commitment, hands-on effort: everything was exactly how you'd hope it to be. It's such a relief to know you can rely 100% on a team that consistently finds solutions and makes the right calls in the moment.I've worked with a lot of agencies over the years, and Campfire genuinely stood out. The on-site team was warm, professional, and - what I appreciated most - proactive. They didn't just "run" the event; they lived it with us.

We recently used Campfire to host our company IRL in Berlin and honestly couldn't recommend them more highly.Leti and Mari were absolutely exceptional. From the first conversation to the final day of the event, nothing was ever too much hassle — they were organised, responsive, and genuinely went above and beyond at every turn. In all the events we've run as a company, we've never worked with organisers quite like them. The proof is in the results — this was our highest rated IRL yet. If you're looking for an events team who will make you feel like you're their only client, look no further. We'll be back.

Campfire has been worth their weight in gold. I am so grateful for everything they have done for our company retreat. From the first contact, to saying bye at the end of the stay, I know they have been there for us. They’ve been a constant, calm, companion in what could be a stressful and complicated few days.

Campfire organized an outstanding retreat for our company in Sicily, accommodating around 200 participants. Everything was top-notch, from the shuttles to and from the airports to the food, accommodation, workspaces, and even social areas. Letizia and her team were incredibly responsive and practical whenever we had new requests or needed changes throughout the week. This was our second experience working with Campfire, and we hope it won't be our last.

We partnered with Campfire for our company's annual retreat. As a UK-based company, this was the first time the company went abroad for it and finding a partner that could help us sort out all of the details, spoke the local language and plan a truly memorable event was vital to its success. Over several months we worked closely with Letizia and the Campfire team to brainstorm and plan every last detail for the retreat in Italy. They were well organised, great at communication and always reachable when we had any questions. They ensured our team of over 30 were well taken care of at the venue and made sure that every request was handled in a timely manner. They helped us pull off the event beautifully and we definitely recommend them for corporate retreat planning!

We used Campfire for the first time this year, and our annual company offsite turned out to be the best one yet. I had the pleasure of working with Letizia and Francesca, who were both incredibly understanding and accommodating. They took the time to listen to our needs and offered thoughtful suggestions for activities, which ended up being the highlights of the trip. Thank you both again for making it such a great experience!

Great organized trip to Portugal. Every small issue was addressed as best as possible. Additionally, our local guide was just amazing, dealt with everything and was still able to find a few minutes for everyone to learn some more things about our location and Portugal in general.
