Discover how our Austrian retreat with Mystery Minds: HR tech company fostered collaboration and strengthened the company culture for this remote team.
In early September 2024, we hosted a retreat for Mystery Minds in one of our newest locations in the Austrian Alps.
Mystery Minds is an HR tech company based in Munich. They are the global market leader for software solutions that connect employees in companies and offer solutions for enterprise organisations looking to build employee networks, enable knowledge sharing, and improve company culture. They are a remote company with 17 employees based in Germany and Austria.
The main goal of this particular retreat was to spend quality time working together and strengthening team collaboration. As a fully remote company for the last three years, retreats have been essential to building their company culture. Maintaining relationships through in-person meetings is crucial to help build trust and collaboration.
They wanted a location that matches their needs and where they could stay a whole week, which, they learnt through experience, allows for enough time to work productively while not disrupting the day-to-day business too much.
As sustainability is an important value for the company, they wanted to stay close by, within Austria or Bavaria, to allow most of the team to reduce cost, time and impact of travel.
We had previously worked with the Mystery Minds team in 2022 when we hosted their retreat at The Workation Island. Working with clients you know is always a great perk as you understand each other immediately, and communication is smooth and efficient! That is how we knew that Campus Alps would be the perfect place for this offsite.
Because they regularly go on retreats, the Mystery Minds team is well-versed in prepping in advance. The dates were booked at least six months in advance, and the schedule was done well in advance.
To ensure the balance between productivity and informal bonding, it was important to include a mix of workshops and dedicated work sessions and of course, some team activities which got a full dedicated day.
While the shared rooms brought an unexpected challenge, how much is one prepared to share with a colleague?, everyone agreed that the fireplace and evening games were the highlight of the gathering, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere that nurtured genuine connections.
